In this writing workshop, each day features a single actionable teaching point focusing on a stage of the writing process: brainstorming, drafting, revising/editing and/or publishing.
On the first day of the workshop, children ages 5-8, will complete an on demand writing piece. We will then color and/or illustrate our current identity as writers and begin exploring different modes of idea generation.
After analyzing each child’s on demand writing, I will determine the scope of the remaining days of the workshop over the next 5 weeks.
At the end of the workshop, students will have completed the writing process and have a short published piece to share. They will also revisit their original illustration of themselves as writers and add or revise how they see themselves now.
Each session is 2.5 hours, 12pm-2:30pm, and writing supplies will be provided.
