In this writing workshop, each day features a single actionable teaching point focusing on a stage of the writing process: brainstorming, drafting, revising/editing and/or publishing.

On the first day of the workshop children will complete an on demand writing piece. We will then illustrate our current identity as writers and begin exploring different modes of idea generation. After analyzing the on demand writing, I will determine the scope of the remaining days of the workshop.

At the end of the workshop, students will have completed the writing process and have a short published piece to share. They will also revisit their original illustration of themselves as writers and add or revise how they see themselves now.

Writing supplies will be provided.

Phonics for Reading and Writing is focused on the specific phonics skills your child needs using the Orton-Gillingham method. A spelling inventory will be given during the first session to determine targeted areas of growth. These sessions can continue until your child meets grade level standards or you feel he/she is ready to put these skills to work independently.

In these sessions, your child will have modeled lessons and guided practice in research based reading strategies. We will work with picture books as well as chapter books focusing on how readers monitor and adjust for understanding throughout a text. This is a 45 minute session.

In this session, your child will share with me his/her current struggles with task initiation or completion and we will discuss how he/she might go about getting things done for long-term success. We will focus on skills for planning, organization, prioritizing and time management.

Individual sessions are at the cost listed below. If you’d like to bundle and book out for the year, 4 sessions would be $1000. This allows us to meet over the summer to get you set up, and then approximately every 2 months going forward, to adjust your curriculum map as needed.

We will work together to identify areas in which you can strengthen your advocacy for your child and use EdCode to support those choices.

Both of my sons are deaf, therefore I have a specialty in supporting student who are deaf and hard of hearing however, I have passion and experience supporting learners of all types.
